30 September 2023: Up and down performances like a yo-yo as of late but coming home to the Giuseppe Meazza, where the club has won its first two matches without conceding, should help. Lazio will be in town as Milan look to get some sort of positive streak going . . .
Milan (4-3-3): Maignan; Tomori, Thiaw, Hernandez, Kjaer; Adli, Loftus-Cheek, Reijnders; Leao, Pulisic, Girard
Cagliari (4-3-3): Provedel; Romagnoli, Casale, Marusic, Hysaj (Pelligrini 89); Rovella, Guendouzi, Alberto; Anderson, Castellanos, Zaccagni
A slow start to the match, with Milan struggling to put together attacks while Lazio are content to sit back on the road. The rossoneri are regularly threatening on the wings, but the quality of the final ball into the box is lacking and a scoreless draw drags into the second half. Milan build up the pressure, but Pulisic and Leao are denied from good chances by Provedel and Giroud puts one straight into the Lazio keeper's chest from the edge of the box. Increasing amounts of one-way traffic end up being all for nought as Milan pile up seventeen shots to Lazio's four yet are unable to tickle the twine.
Another frustrating affair - some amount of this is bad luck as Milan have earned just two points from back-to-back games in which they've allowed the opposition a total of one shot on goal, but the chances aren't exactly falling from the sky for the red-and-blacks, either. [scoresheet]
