Browns 5, White Sox 4: Wally Gerber just beat the throw home on a bang-bang play in the bottom of the 9th as the Browns edged the ChiSox in front of the home fans. St. Louis loaded the bases with one out and, with Dickie Kerr on in relief, Joe Gedeon tapped one to the left of the mound which Kerr could only stab and fling toward home after Gerber (who reached base all four times to the plate) had slid past the tag of Ray Schalk. Bert Gallia went the distance for the Browns, spreading out seven hits and five walks. [box]
Tigers 5, Indians 4: A 7th-inning explosion from the heart of Detroit's powerful lineup broke open a close game and led the Tigers to a win at home. Cobb, Veach and Heilmann led off the inning with a triple, a triple and a double, respectively as the Bengals caught up with Stan Coveleski and took a 5-2 lead which they would not relinquish. Eddie Ainsmith also contributed three hits and a pair of RBI. [box]
