1919 AL - Games of Saturday, 26 April

Tigers 6, Indians 4The Tigers withstood a late Indians rally to hang onto a home victory. Detroit led 5-1 before Cleveland scored three times in the 8th to raise some concern in the gathering at Navin Field, but Ty Cobb (3-for-5, RBI, SB) singled home an insurance run in the bottom half and George Cunningham held on to close it out. Ira Flagstead hit a solo home run for the Tigers.  [box]

White Sox 5, Browns 4Chicago jumped on starter Dave Davenport for four runs in the 1st inning, then had to hold on for dear life as St. Louis got the tying and winning runs on base in the bottom of the 9th before reliever Roy Wilkinson could retire the final two men to secure the win. Chick Gandil knocked in three runs, while Joe Gedeon walked three times for the Browns. [box]
