1919 AL - Games of Sunday, 11 May

White Sox 8, Indians 4Everything came up "fives" in Cleveland today, as Joe Jackson recorded the first five-hit game of the season in the AL thus far, and Lefty Williams earned his fifth win of the season. The final fate of the contest was still in some doubt with the score 5-3 in favor of Chicago through six innings, but Jackson's fourth hit of the day was part of a three-run 7th inning that gave Williams all of the cushion he required to run his ledger to 5-0 on the young season. Hap Felsch knocked in three men with a double and a triple, and Joe Wood tripled twice for the home team. [box]

Browns 10, Tigers 4For the second straight afternoon, Tiger pitching was not match for the Browns offense, as the home club put ten runs on the scoreboard at Sportsman's Park. Today, it was Baby Doll Jacobson who paced the attack with a single, double, homer and three knocked in, but four other Brownies had two hits apiece among the eighteen home baserunners. Urban Shocker took full advantage of the bounty by holding Detroit to a single run through seven innings and then holding on for the complete game as he began to tire over the final two frames. [box]
