1919 AL - Games of Saturday, 10 May

Indians 7, White Sox 1Ray Chapman had four hits and scored twice as the Indians won easily at home against the first-place White Sox.  Chapman singled in each of the first two innings as Cleveland jumped out to a 3-0 lead, and then tripled to start a three-run 8th that put the game away, Johnny Enzmann was in complete control on the mound, allowing only six hits (three to Nemo Leibold) and one walk, and Doc Johnston also contributed three hits on the afternoon.  [box]

Browns 7, Tigers 4The bottom of the St. Louis order went a combined 9-for-17 with a double and a triple as a pair of three-run rallies put the Tigers at a distance.  Detroit was leading 2-1 before the Browns scored three times in both the 4th and 5th innings to chase Howard Ehmke; key blows came on a two-run triple by Hank Severeid and a two-run single by St. Louis starter Carl Weilman. Weilman pitched around eleven Detroit hits (including three by Ty Cobb) to go the route for his second victory of the season.  [box]
